The Court of Appeal has upheld the 30-year prison sentence for Albert Kacë, who in 2019 killed his sister's ex-husband after the divorce, Ylli Mena. Initially, the Lezha Prosecution had requested 35 years in prison for Kacë.

After reviewing the case in the Appeal, the panel headed by Judge Fuat Vjerdha considered the decision fair, rejecting the appeal of the defense parties for the defendant. Albert Kaca, who remains at large, was found guilty of the criminal offense of "Murder committed within the family circle", while the victim's divorce with the perpetrator's sister became the cause of the serious crime.

The incident occurred on September 21, 2019 in Ishull-Lezha, when 32-year-old Ylli Mena was riding a bicycle when he was hit by a vehicle and died a few hours later at the Trauma Hospital in Tirana, after he could not survive the injuries he sustained. Initially, it was suspected to be an accident, but after investigative actions it turned out that the incident was intentional and the police declared Albert Kaca wanted. The perpetrator and the victim had been in conflict with each other since Ylli Mena's divorce from the sister of 32-year-old Kaca.
