Drunk police officer arrested after hitting woman with car and fleeing scene

The Police Supervision Agency (Tirana Region) has arrested in flagrante delicto the police officer Inspector DG, on duty as a Service Trooper at the Ceremonial Unit at the General Directorate of the State Police, suspected of committing the criminal offenses of "Irregular Driving" and "Leaving the Scene of an Accident" provided for in articles 291 and 273 of the Criminal Code.

His arrest was carried out after yesterday evening at around 20:25, in a place called "Dibra Road", he was involved in an accident, resulting in injuries to citizen EM, who was taken to the Trauma Hospital out of danger for her life.

The police officer fled the scene of the accident and was later arrested near the Babrru Bridge. A breathalyzer test showed a blood alcohol level of 1.03 mg/l.

The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Tirana.
