The murder and subsequent dumping of Drita Saliaj's body in the village of Gjerba in Mallakastra has led the court to conclude his conviction and sentence of three people arrested for the incident.

The court of Fier has sentenced Ervis Zotaj to life imprisonment for the event that took place in 2020. While he sentenced the two persons involved in the murder, Sindi Shehaj and Luis Saliaj, to 17 years and 14 years in prison each.

How the murder happened:

On the evening of 06.01.2020, the citizen Mimoza Saliaj, together with her son, the person under investigation Luis Saliaj, residents of the village of Gjerbës, appeared at the Mallakastër Police Station, where they inform that the citizen Drita Saliaj, resident of the same village with them, who lives alone, as her husband and two children are abroad, as immigrants.

They also suspect that the perpetrators of the disappearance of the citizen Drita Saliaj are the persons under investigation Ervis Zotaj, a resident of the village of Gjerba and Sindi Shehaj, a resident of the village of Çërrilë.
Upon receiving the above notification, the investigative group was set up, which went to the apartment of the citizen Drita Saliaj.

From the inspection of the above apartment, accompanied by the relevant photos, it has resulted, among other things, that in all the rooms there was clutter, inverted items and clothes thrown on the ground in a messy way, in the sink were found two cups of coffee, a glass of water on the table, a mobile phone off, a sim card, on the sofa a small handbag, leather material, brown.

On the floor of the outside of the porch, near the door, a red stain was found, like that of blood (a sample of which was taken with a sterile swab).
In addition to the above, the apartment of the person under investigation Luis Saliaj was inspected, which is located at a distance of 30 m from the apartment of the citizen Drita Saliaj.
From the inspection of this apartment, among others, on the dining table, were found four plates with which food was consumed, a glass of water and a papillary trace, which were taken as material evidence for further examinations.
On the basis of the provided data, around 16:00, in the reservoir Lumarë 1, by the divers, it became possible to find and remove the dead body of the citizen Drita Saliaj.
From the examination, among other things, it turned out that she was wearing a red blouse, she had a blue sweater on her waist, and she was naked at the bottom. Pants and shoes have been lowered to the ankles.

His hands were tied behind his back with a milky colored nylon scarf, while his legs were tied with a blue rope. There was a colorful towel tied around his neck.

Më pas trupi i shtetases Drita Saliaj, është transportuar për në morgun e Spitalit Rajonal Fier. Nga këqyrja e kufomës, e pasqyruar me procesverbalin e datës 07.01.2020, sipas dosjes së prokurorisë, ka pasur shenja në qafë, në gjunjë dhe këmbë.
Gjurmë papilare janë gjetur edhe në makinën e përdorur nga 16-vjeçari Sindi Shehaj dhe në makinën e 26-vjeçarit Ervis Zotaj.

Nga shpjegimet e shtetases Mimoza Saliaj (kunatë me viktimën, e ëma e një prej aturëve) rezulton se është banore e fshatit Gjerbës Mallakastër. Është e martuar me shtetasin Ardian Saliaj, i cili është i arrestuar për veprën penale të kultivimit të bimëve narkotike.
Në datën 02.01.2020, bashkë me fëmijët e saj Luisin (16 vjeç) dhe më të voglin ka shkuar tek prindërit, në fshatin Rroms Mallakastër.

Sqaron se, në datën 03.01.2020, Luisi ka dalë nga shtëpia për të shkuar në Fier. Ka pasur komunikime të vazhdueshme me të dhe nga përgjigjet e dhëna prej tij ka menduar se e gënjente për vendndodhjen e tij. Në datën 05.01.2020, ka komunikuar përsëri me Luisin, e ai i ka thënë se ndodhej në Gjerbës.

Në datën 06.01.2020, ka shkuar në paraburgimin e Beratit, për të takuar bashkëshortin dhe rreth orës 17:00-17:30, është kthyer përsëri në fshatin Rroms. Rreth orës 20:00, aty ka shkuar edhe Luisi, i shoqëruar nga nipi i bashkëshortit të saj.

Në bisedë me këtë të fundit ka mësuar se Luisi kishte dijeni për rrethanat e zhdukjes së shtetases Drita Saliaj. Pas kësaj bisede e ka parë Luisin të shqetësuar dhe e pyet nëse ishte e vërtetë ajo që kishte mësuar. Kjo bisedë atë e ka shqetësuar shumë e ndërkohë ka filluar të dridhej e tensionohej shumë.
Pas kësaj, ka pasur interesim edhe nga të afërmit e tyre, e në këto rrethana është paraqitur në Komisariatin e Policisë Mallakastër. Di që djali i saj Luisi, ka pasur njohje me personin nën hetim Ervis Zotaj.

Po kështu edhe me personin nën hetim Sindi Shehaj, djali saj, Luisi, kanë njohje qysh në shkollën 9-vjeçare, e se shoqëroheshin shpesh. Thekson se me Drita Saliaj, e fëmijët e saj, nuk kane pasur asnjë lloj konflikti të mëparshëm.

On 06.01.2020, together with his brother Iliri, they went to the village of Rroms, after the phone call made by the citizen Mimoza Saliaj. In the conversation with the latter, they learned from Mimoza, they knew everything and in these circumstances they went to the Mallakastër Police Station.
