The opposition demands the declaration of "Martyr of the Homeland" for
Judge Astrit Kalaja

"Judge Astrit Kalaja to be declared a Martyr of the Homeland." This was the request of the leader of the Republican Party, Fatmir Mediu, at the Conference of Chairmen.

Mediu requested that state institutions initiate proceedings regarding the late judge, who lost his life in the line of duty while reading a court decision at the Tirana Court of Appeals.

The shocking incident took place in the courtroom on Monday afternoon.

Kala's murder has shocked the entire public opinion, and today tributes are being held in his honor, at the Palace of Congresses.

The body of Appeals Judge Astrit Kalaja will be laid to rest in his hometown, Shkodër.
