The Albanian Road Authority has presented today "Plan B" for the road that leads to Rinas airport. It is about the construction of a new road, which will start from the turn of Kasahr and will join the existing road near the tower of Albcontrol.
The project was presented by the head of ARA Evis Berberi, who announced that the new road will be ready in mid-July.
"We have the flow of traffic, which comes from the Kashar turn, which comes straight to the exit lane, which is 200 meters long and 5 meters wide, so with one lane, joins the existing road which drawn into the Albcontrol tower, and continues the flow of movement in one direction.
While the rest, which will not access the airport, but will go to the north or Ahmetaq area can continue freely in this lane, and exit at the Ahmetaq roundabout, and continue the road, but also on that side can to access the airport.
"Whoever comes from the new road that will be built, will come to the exit near the Albcontrol tower, will take the right, will make a turn to go in front of the airport parking lot", explained the head of ARA.
The work in the technical council started the day before, where an emergency procedure was opened.
"We have started the procedure in the technical council to approve the new solution of the Airport. As we stated at the beginning of the procedures and at the beginning of July we have completed the new access from the Kashar turn to Ahmetaq and towards the Airport. So for a period of two months we have completed the whole procedure and in the middle of July we will have the new road ready " - declared Balluku.
We recall that after four days of protests by citizens, the road to Rinas was opened today for both senses of movement. The decision to turn it into a one-way street in Rinas was dubious, as not only is it not a well-studied decision, but it was put in the service of the airport concessionaire, Shefqet Kastrati.
