A 70-year-old man was arrested in Korça, after allegedly sexually harassing a minor girl. Police investigations revealed that 70-year-old Iqmet Skenderi molested an 11-year-old minor in his shop in a remote village of Maliqi.
The 11-year-old went to the store yesterday afternoon to buy, while the 70-year-old was alone and taking advantage of the fact that there were no other people in the store, he pulled the minor trying to sit her on his lap.
According to the statements of the 11-year-old, he touched her and used insulting words towards her. The minor reacted by screaming and ran away from the abuser's store. She immediately notified the parents, who reported the serious incident to the police station in Maliqi.
After the denunciation, the Maliqi police arrested 70-year-old Iqmet Skenderi, who is accused of "sexual harassment of minors".
The mother of the victim, Marsela Zito, said: " The girl said that she does not forgive her for saying dirty words to me. No, the girl just told me words. I don't know what happened because the girl went to the store by herself ."
While Myfit Skenderi, the author's brother, said: " Until now, I have not heard anything at all, since yesterday when the police came, they said that there was a dispute from 4 o'clock. The brother lived alone. He worked at the store here.
We were peasants and we have the girl's father as in our tribe. I didn't stay here in the shop. My brother is very good, he doesn't care, ask the others in the village. No, there have never been such cases, you ask in the village. He was an agronomist, a teacher, there was never any talk like that ."
Alfred Skenderi, the head of the village, said: " He is known as a very good man, and 1000 percent did not do this job. We don't know anything, without speaking justice we cannot speak. It was very correct, it served, I would say, we don't even remember that this event happened.
Maybe the parents had conflicts or debts. There is no way, that he actually cares for the whole village. There is no entry or exit of the families between them, it is in May of the village. Iqmet is single, lived alone, did not deal with these jobs. "
Bezat Muçollari, a resident of the area, said: " We have known him for a long time, I live in Tirana, he has been trading in that store for 30 years, he has not said a word. Women entered there, girls entered. This 70-year-old today, I can't wait for it. I know him well and I don't even have a tribe. Justice will see the others. The opinion about that man has been good. But the police also arrested the other party for owing 100,000 lek ."
