Investigative journalist Artan Hoxha spoke this evening about the departure from the country of former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj, whom SPAK has requested to arrest for several criminal offences.
He said in "The Unexposed" that Ahmetaj is in London, while adding that he may also seek political asylum, due to the statements of Prime Minister Edi Rama, but emphasized that the host countries do not declare such a thing if it happens.
"The first time, we also accurately calculated the time when it had passed. Then the story began, because the man did not care about the truth. He went the way he always does. From Greece he went to England, to London. He was not to leave until he appeared before the Mandates Council. He is a free citizen, there was no obstacle. He has come and gone during this time.
In the last phone call, I heard noise, the girl in the background, it seemed like a family environment. Why did he decide to run away? He passed the customs beam around 1:00 p.m. At the end of that day, the request was submitted to the Assembly. From that moment, Ahmetaj was a free man, he was photographed by chance.
From that place and until the moment we speak, Ahmetaj went from Tirana to Greece and then fled to London. We have never heard of requests for political asylum from the host countries, they do not inform the countries. It was said that he could not have fled to Britain, because Britain will extradite him. No. Ilir Kumbaron, for example, was not brought to us even though they knew where he was.
Britain, as it has given examples of extradition in many cases, has also given cases when there is a political implication, they have not returned the people. If Mr. Ahmetaj was here, he would not have the opportunity to have a real confrontation with justice, being outside he can do it. If you are detained, you have no chance, if they let you in, you don't speak", said Hoxha.
