Several doctors in Fier have been suspended from duty for negligence in medical treatment.
The Fier Prosecutor's Office announced this Friday that the case is related to the death of a person, an event that occurred on February 3, 2022.
"The investigation of this case has resulted in the fact that, on 03.02.2022, the operating room was notified that citizen A.Sh. was taken to Patos Hospital without signs of life. The investigative actions have resulted in the deceased having gone to Patos Hospital in the early hours of the morning and then being taken by ambulance to the Emergency Room of the Fier Regional Hospital and then returning to Patos where he sat in a bar and passed away. Information was obtained about the doctors on duty who were in the doctors' office and whether citizen A.Sh. had presented himself in the early hours of the morning accompanied by the Patos ambulance with chest pain. For this fact, the doctors have denied knowledge of the case and the fact that the deceased had presented himself on their shift," the prosecution announced.
Prosecutors say they have administered a forensic medical examination, which concluded that there were elements of medical negligence on the part of the medical personnel who treated the case that directly influenced the outcome.
"Regarding the above, there is reasonable suspicion that the doctors have neglected to properly treat the case, resulting in the death of the deceased," the prosecution announced.
For this reason, upon the request of the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Fier, the Court, with decision no. 62-2024-6773 dated 21.12.2024, decided to impose a security measure on three people.
