SPAK has sent for trial the file of Erzen Breçani, former Crime Chief Dedan Gjoni, former Interpol officer Jonida Babameto and other individuals accused of being part of a criminal group involved in drug trafficking and money laundering.
The defendants are Ismail Zeneli, Bujar Ajeti, Adrian Cenaj (Dedja), Dedan Gjoni, Besmir Murtati, Albert Prenga, Jonida Babameto and Erzen Breçani.
According to SPAK, the defendants collaborated as a structured criminal group that dealt with cocaine trafficking from Latin American countries.
They exploited international connections in Latin America and Europe for drug trafficking. This structured criminal group exploited the official positions of several Albanian law enforcement agency officials to collect and distribute classified information, which helped its members evade justice and continue criminal activity, such as the case of former crime boss Dedan Gjoni, according to SPAK.
Erzen Breçani, through active illegal actions, administered and circulated the proceeds of drug trafficking of his son Eralbi Breçani, with the aim of covering up their true origin. Father and son had a common goal, preventing the identification of the origin of the proceeds. Breçani also provided information to Bujar Ajeti and Nuredin Dumani in order to avoid arrest by the police.
