Aurora was due to celebrate her 14th birthday in November, but unfortunately her dreams were cut short. On October 25, 2024, it was reported to the Bologna police (Italy) that the minor had been thrown from the balcony of the building where she lived.

Shocking event not only for her family, but the whole community.

The 13-year-old Albanian lived with her mother and sister in Piacenza. As the latter describe her, she had never shown any signs of depression, instead she had so many plans for the future.

What was initially thought to be an act of suicide turned out to be something else entirely. A 15-year-old man, of Albanian origin, was arrested by the police on suspicion of being the perpetrator of the murder.

The mother's denunciation

What were the clues of the police and prosecutors that led to his arrest? The victim's mother had reported to the police a few days earlier that her daughter was being abused by her boyfriend (the arrested 15-year-old). She described him as obsessive and jealous, so much so that the minor could not put an end to their toxic relationship.

The lawyer of Aurora's family, Lorenca Dordoni, told the media that despite the denunciation made days before the tragic event, no action was taken.

"The girl went to school with her friends and came back around 20:55. Her mother was at home. Despite the fact that there is no evidence and she has not seen her boyfriend anywhere, it is suspected that he waited for the 13-year-old at the end of the corridor or at the stairs, in a corner that will not be noticed by others", said the lawyer for Italian media.

In addition to this denunciation, the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office in Bologna is examining the autopsy of the minor's body.

"He has not spoken to anyone since the incident," his family members say. According to them, the minor is in a state of despair. During questioning, he denied having anything to do with the incident, saying that the girl had thrown herself from the balcony. It was the 15-year-old who asked the neighbors for help at the first moment and called the police.
