In Albania, over 800 Ukrainians have taken refuge since the russian aggression was launched on 24 February. The figure was published by the Ukrainian Embassy in Tirana.
"Since the beginning of Russian aggression against Ukraine, the number of Ukrainians fleeing war has increased. We are now operating with 816 refugees from Ukraine who have crossed the border and are here," Ukrainian Ambassador to Tirana Volodymyr Shukrov said in an interview with DA.
Shukrova says there are about 100 children among the shelters.
"I would like to stress that 214 Ukrainians sought help in our embassy, 124 adults and 91 children, and received support," he said.
According to the Ambassador, co-operation with Albania for the protection of war refugees is good. Here, he cites two decisions of the Albanian government.
"We have good contact with the relevant ministries, the police, refugee oganises. I veꞔantë want to say, that there are two decisions of the Albanian government regarding the status of temporary protection for refugees. These allow Ukrainian refugees to enter the country and stay in Albania for a year," Shukrov adds.
