As the university application deadline approaches, the "loop" narrows for new and old high school graduates.
But often the Ministry of Education provides additional opportunities by extending deadlines or reopening the application deadline for the A1 and A1Z forms several times.
Completing them is an intermediate step between high school and university, as it clearly defines the elective courses that are given in the exam and must necessarily be related to the preferred study program.
At least, the orientation. Thus, in the middle of next week, on May 12th and 13th, the matura portal will be open to welcome perhaps the last graduates who have not yet applied to the portal dedicated specifically to the state matura.
"The QSHA orders the approval of the application period with the A1 and AIZ form, for the 2025 MOH, on May 12-13, 2025, from 08.00 to 16.00. The Educational Services Center, the Pre-University Education Quality Assurance Agency, the National Pre-University Education Agency, the Regional Directorates of Pre-University Education, the Local Pre-University Education Offices and educational institutions are responsible for implementing this order," is quoted in order no. 92 of the Educational Services Center, which charges almost all local educational units or offices with implementing it.
According to the agency, the A1 form is completed by this school year's high school graduates, while the A1Z form is completed by all candidates who want to apply for the State Matura.
The first step is to fill out the A1/A1Z form, which stores personal data, as well as other data related to the exams. The A1/A1Z forms are initially filled out “online” through the “e-Albania” portal and then must be confirmed at the relevant school by the high school graduate/candidate.
"The high school graduate/candidate applies 'online' initially on the 'e-Albania' government portal and then, in the 'Ematura' system in the period February 3-February 12, 2025. The application in the 'Ematura' system is also made according to the deadlines set in the QSHA," the AKAP announcement states.
The exam centers will be designated by March, while the database for all high school graduates will be ready by April. According to the ministry's calendar, everything will be finished by June 20, when the results of all high school graduates will be verified and confirmed in the system.
“State Matura” is an electronic service that enables the application of forms A1 and A1Z. Form A1 is completed by graduates of this school year, while form A1Z is completed by all candidates who want to apply for the State Matura. The completion of forms A1/A1Z is done twice. Initially “online” on the government portal “e-Albania”.
In this portal, high school graduates complete the application themselves by first filling out the A1/A1Z form, which stores personal data as well as the exams they will take, or grades if they have taken one or more exams, for those who fill out the A1 form.
Then, their completion is done on the State Matura portal according to a calendar plan that is expected to be published by the MAS.
The A1Z form is completed in existing schools where the candidate completed high school or in the school designated by the State Matura Commission.
The process of completing the A1 form and the A1Z form is not done individually by the high school graduate, but is followed by a person assigned by the school directorate, who is called a "supervisor".
The supervisor is provided with the relevant access code to the system and only after the supervisor enters the code into the system can the graduate complete the A1 form.
In points 1-6, the graduate, in collaboration with the supervisor, must enter personal data and some school data.
Meanwhile, in point 7 of the A1 form, high school graduates must also indicate whether they will apply for studies abroad. Some points of this form are completed only by the supervisor, from 10-14, where point 14 indicates the foreign language that is treated as a compulsory foreign language in the school curriculum, at the B1 language level.
The list of data obtained from filling out the forms is printed, signed by the graduate and the supervisor, and stamped by the school principal, where the A1 forms are filled out.
