The police of Korça have prosecuted the whistleblower of an alleged election crime, as he refused to cooperate with them, after sending the video to the "JOQ Albania" portal.

Through the video, he filmed the companion of the Socialist Party candidate, as he asked him "what are you doing there" and "why do you buy votes". While he replied that he was in a meeting and that he could also meet the SP candidate in person if he had doubts.

But the whistleblower decided to leave, telling them that "he will take them to SPAK". However, the police of Korça say that after the verifications, they did not encounter evidence of the commission of electoral crimes, but prosecuted the whistleblower for "obstructing the disclosure of the truth", as he did not cooperate with them.

Police Notification:

The structures of the Korça Local Police Directorate have just become acquainted with a post on social networks where in two videos it was alleged that a candidate for deputy of the political entity Socialist Party has been offering sums of money in exchange for votes to the residents of the village of Podgorie-Maliq, immediately started work to verify the case.

As a result of the actions carried out under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office of the General Jurisdiction of Korça, the Specialists of the Section for the Investigation of Economic and Financial Crime in DVP Korça, prosecuted for the criminal offenses "Actions that hinder the discovery of the truth", for the citizen AP, 34 years old, resident of Podgorie, Maliq, with a previous criminal record and convicted of criminal offenses in the field of production and sale of narcotics and crimes against the person.

From the investigative actions carried out, the checks and statements taken from the citizens who appeared in these images and the candidate for deputy citizen AJ, no illegal action related to the sale and purchase of votes was found.

Also, from the analysis of the film footage and from the verifications carried out, it results that the AP citizen was the person who performed the audio-video recording of the citizen who appears in those images.

The AP citizen refused to make it available to the Police in order to examine the device with which he carried out this recording, becoming the reason for obstructing further investigations by law enforcement structures.

The materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Korça.

The Korça Local Police Directorate guarantees citizens and political subjects that the Police structures are maximally engaged to enforce the law, prevent and crack down on illegalities in order to create an even safer environment.
