The Tirana court has left Ermes Hoxhalli in prison, accused of computer fraud, as he promised free scholarships to the United States of America through a false identity.
The investigations revealed that the 20-year-old from Devolli used the fraud scheme through the "Let's talk together about US 24" projects and put in his "trap" high school students, students and educational officials of Albania.
In today's session, representatives of the American Embassy were also present, as the diplomatic body directly affected by this fraud scheme, using its name.
Ermes Hoxhalli promised students and teachers free trips to the USA and other services. Hundreds of students, teachers and education officials throughout Albania participated in these fraudulent programs.
The alarm was raised by the American Embassy, which came out in a public statement saying that the well-known project "Let's Talk Together About US24", which aimed to inform citizens about education, travel or obtaining American visas, had no it had nothing to do with the US Department of State, the US Department of Defense, or other educational programs and embassy personnel.
For this reason, the embassy called on Albanian citizens to be careful and not fall prey to scams.
Also, the Criminal Police in Tirana was placed in pursuit of the authors responsible for the construction of this fraud scheme, while several people were arrested, including the 20-year-old Ermes Hoxholli, who posed on the Internet as Klea Rama, the granddaughter of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
