Forex fraud, German prosecutor: Very complex organization, crime offered as a service

SPAK, in cooperation with German authorities, carried out the operation codenamed "Pandora", which led to the "dismantling" of a criminal group that was engaged in computer fraud. During the operation, six people were arrested, while two others were declared wanted.

This Call Center, through "forex", defrauded foreign citizens, in this case German citizens, and extorted money. The value of the damage caused is up to 363,501 euros and there are 14 victims of the fraud in Germany, who have filed a report.

Regarding this mega-operation, SPAK came out at a press conference; the prosecutor of the Albanian side, Eneid Nakuçi, and the German side, Oliver Hofsman, shared more details. According to prosecutor Oliver Hofsman, the criminal organization used a very complex scheme, offering crime as a service. He added that it is suspected that citizens from five other countries, in addition to Germany, have also fallen prey to this fraud.

"In terms of identification or how the data of the people who are being deceived is obtained, each scheme has its own characteristics and each person has their own data. It can be obtained through recovery and in this way people become victims of these frauds. Meanwhile, in terms of money laundering, the schemes they use remain the same in this regard. As for hiding the money, there are different ways, the simplest is by transfer, but also through PlayPay cards, where the money is then withdrawn to certain places around the world.

"In its entirety, it is a very complex criminal structure, offering crime as a service. Certain parts of the criminal structure were responsible for carrying out the activities. The victims were not only in Germany, but also in five other countries, such as Spain, Sweden... As I said, we have been pursuing this criminal group for more than 18 months ," the prosecutor said.
