The head of SPAK, Altin Dumani, was asked at a meeting with journalists about the draft of the new Penal Code.

Dumani has stated that they will maintain their stance once they are familiar with the draft.

He indicated that SPAK was not part of its drafting.

The Special Chief Prosecutor also said that some changes are needed to the current Code, according to him, for some criminal offenses that provide for severe punishments. 

"I think that the debate that should have been held is whether a new code is necessary for approval, or is there a need for improvements to the current code. I think that some changes are needed to the current code, for example for some offenses where severe punishments are foreseen. The same punishment cannot be applied as for someone caught with cocaine, hashish or synthetic drugs. In my opinion, for those caught with synthetic drugs, the punishment should be more severe. This comes to mind as an example. There is a draft, we are not involved. The moment they bring us a draft, we will have a position. I followed the position of the Attorney General. We were not involved in the working group, we cannot say whether they left us out. We were not involved," he said.
