The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, asked SPAK seven questions yesterday through a long message claiming that he had been left without answers.
The Head of the Special Prosecution Office, Altin Dumani, during a communication with journalists, said that he had not read the questions of Veliaj, who was recently taken into custody.
Dumani underlined that the institution reacts when it deems it appropriate, but in this specific case there was nothing to do something like that.
The only way to communicate with him, according to Dumani, is through the court process, where he emphasized that SPAK guarantees Veliaj's rights and responds with documents and evidence.
"I have not read the defendant's questions, there are definitely cases when the institution sees fit to react, there have been reactions. In this specific case, we have nothing to react to. We guarantee the defendant's rights in the process and respond with documents and evidence. Otherwise, we communicate with the defendant in another form," Dumani told reporters.
He announced that there is a divided faction regarding the Veliaj issue and that " there are several facts that are being investigated by SPAK."
