The Special Prosecution Office Against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) has today made public the results of an operation conducted in cooperation with German authorities, codenamed "Pandora", which led to the uncovering of a fraud scheme to the detriment of foreign citizens, mainly from Germany.

Prosecutor Eneid Nakuçi provided details about the operation carried out on April 18 of last year, during which material evidence was seized from an illegal call center premises.

So far, eight arrest warrants have been issued.

The value of the damage caused to the four victims exceeds 363 thousand euros.

Special Prosecutor Eneid Nakuçi announced that during the investigations, the activity of a group of people operating through a call center located in Albanian territory was documented.

According to him, the citizens involved used false identities, posing as German police officers, with the aim of defrauding citizens who had previously been promised investigations and reimbursement for losses in investment markets such as Forex and cryptocurrency.

Operation Pandora was conducted following an investigation launched in late 2023 in Germany, which was then followed by in-depth investigations in Albania in early 2024.

During the operation, on Albanian territory, controls were carried out in premises identified as call centers, where material, documentary and digital evidence was seized.

Based on the evidence collected, SPAK has addressed the Special Court with a request to impose personal security measures for 8 people, where:

-5 have been sentenced to "prison arrest",

-3 in the measure of "house arrest".

Investigations continue in cooperation with German authorities to identify other persons involved and the full network of this illegal international activity.
