Prime Minister Edi Rama has invited the institutions of the justice system to a joint consultation roundtable on the issue of magistrates' salaries.

The invitation has gone out to all justice institutions and the meeting will take place on September 28, at 12:30, at the Prime Minister's Office.

According to the head of government, this invitation aims to serve as a starting point for a consultation process and inter-institutional dialogue on the method of determining salaries in the justice system.

The invitation to institutions emphasizes that the discussion will focus on the principles, criteria and instruments that should guide wage policy, taking into account budgetary sustainability, inter-institutional coherence and proportionality between functions and responsibilities.

"The aim is to jointly discuss the principles and elements on which a sustainable, coherent and predictable mechanism for determining salaries in the justice system can be built, according to European standards," the letter states.

According to the invitation, the consultation will not be limited to the current level of salaries, but aims to determine a sustainable mechanism for their determination and periodic review.

The government requires that this mechanism be based on clear and objective rules, aiming for a common approach among institutions.

The document also emphasizes that the process aims to contribute to the independence, integrity and professionalism of the justice system, while at the same time guaranteeing the financial sustainability of the state.

A few days ago, the Parliament approved a new formula for the reference salary, increasing the coefficient from 0.36 to 0.38 of the President's salary, while this formula has been opposed by several justice institutions.
