An explosion has occurred in a three-story apartment block in The Hague, police report.
The explosion caused the collapse of several houses in the Tarwekamp area at around 06:15 local time.
Rescue teams are searching for about 20 people believed to have been there at the time of the explosion. Four others have reportedly been pulled from the rubble and taken to hospital.
Neighborhood residents said they heard a loud bang and then screams. One woman told local media that she thought it was an earthquake.
The cause of the explosion is not yet known. But Dutch media say police are searching for a vehicle that sped away moments after the incident.
