The European Court of Human Rights has rejected the request of the former governor of the Bank of Albania, Ardian Fullani. GJDENJ decided not to accept the request of Fullan, who claimed that he should be reinstated as, according to him, his rights had been violated. GJDENJ argues that the request is inadmissible.
The ex-governor was arrested in 2014 on the charge of stealing 713 million new lek. Then, the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania voted for his dismissal from the post of Governor in 2014 and was approved by the Assembly, after the scandal that erupted in the Central Bank.
Ardian Fullani was first arrested, then the Court placed him under house arrest, while the Appeal decision on December 23, 2015 declared him innocent. After the arrest and dismissal, the former Governor, Ardian Fullani, sued the Administrative Court, the Bank of Albania and the Assembly for the dismissal, seeking compensation.
