Andis Harasani was one of Fatos Nano's main directors in 2005, who entered politics by running for MP.
Until that year, he had headed the Albanian Electric Power Corporation ( KESH ), when Nano called him to run against Shaban Memija in one of the areas of Tirana , in unit no. 4.
Harasani won the confrontation with the Democratic candidate and was one of the few Socialists to win in the capital, where he also received his first mandate as a deputy.
After the change in socialist leadership following the election loss, he was again one of Edi Rama's candidates in Tirana.
This time, not in unit no. 4 but in the Rrogozhina area.
In 2009, Harasani won a second parliamentary term, but he would not complete it. In 2012, just a year before the general elections that would mark the return of the Socialists to power, he decided to leave the mandate “for personal reasons,” as he publicly stated at the time.
"After 7 years as a Socialist Party MP and representative of the voters of the Tirana district, I have decided to hand over my mandate as an MP for entirely personal reasons. I would like to assure all my voters, as well as the entire membership of the Socialist Party, that despite my separation from parliamentary activity, I will continue to support and work to ensure the victory of the Socialist Party in the next parliamentary elections," Harasani declared at the time.
His place was taken by Auron Tare , while Harasani continued his personal commitments outside Albania.
