Beware of fraudulent SMS and emails, AKSK: One click can empty your account

The National Cyber ​​Security Authority (AKSK) has issued a warning to citizens, requesting increased vigilance against fraudulent SMS messages and emails that use the name and visual identity of banks, the Albanian Post or other institutions.

According to AKSK, these messages aim to steal citizens' personal and banking data through scams known as "phishing".

Fraudulent messages usually claim that the citizen has a package that requires payment or address confirmation, that the bank account has been blocked or has unusual activity, or that they must act immediately to avoid suspension of a service.

The authority calls on citizens not to click on suspicious links and to never share passwords, verification codes (OTP), PINs or bank card details.

Likewise, AKSK advises that any notification be verified only through the official websites and channels of the respective bank or institution, while suspicious cases should be reported to the competent authorities and the institution being impersonated.

"A hasty click could be enough to compromise your data. Stay vigilant and always verify before acting," AKSK emphasizes in its announcement.
