The European Union Ambassador to Tirana, Silvio Gonzato, at the press conference of the Public Commissioner and the Independent Qualification Commission, stated that our country must maintain the integrity of the judiciary.

Ambassador Gonzato praised the work of these seven years of the KPK, describing it as a great achievement.

"This has not been an easy process. The professionalism you have shown on this journey allows me to congratulate the commissioners for their contribution to ensuring the independence of the justice system and restoring public confidence in the justice institutions. What you have done so far is one of several things and you have made a great contribution to the opening of the first chapter. The work that has been done so far must not be lost and the independence of the institutions must be preserved.

The Supreme Court and the Supreme Judicial Council must provide concrete evidence and maintain the standards of the vetting bodies. Another aspect that we have referred to is the importance of the vetting institutions that must refer cases to the prosecution and SPAK. In closing, I think that what you have done in these 7 years is an achievement and a great job, and has done what has brought Albania closer to the EU and membership. The judiciary must be independent and accountable, so that every citizen has access to justice", said Gonzato among other things.
