The dialysis concession will change hands again.
Contract holding company Diaverium has sold the European chain of dialysis clinics to Abu Dhabi's M42, a healthcare joint venture newly formed by state fund Mubadala Investment Company and artificial intelligence firm G42.
The transaction was announced through a statement by the parties, but did not disclose the value of the sale.
This is the second time that the dialysis concession will change owners, after the one in 2019 when Diaverum bought the shares from "Spitali Amerikan" and "Evita" company.
The dialysis concession is 1 of 4 contracts, which transfer part of the health services to private companies.
The object of this concession contract is the provision of the hemodialysis service near the regional hospitals of Shkodër, Lezhë, Elbasan, Vlorë, Korçë, while a part of this service is still offered today through health packages and the public hospital service.
The contract signed in 2016 has a duration of 10 years, while the service price for a dialysis session is ALL 11,203, excluding VAT.
For the period 2016 - 2021, about 3.97 billion ALL have been liquidated from the state budget, while about 3.24 billion ALL remain to be liquidated for the remaining years, given that its total value is 7.21 billion ALL or 60 million euros.
Meanwhile, a report by the organization "Together for Life" estimated that this concession has benefited about 412 million ALL or about 3.5 million euros in payments from the state budget for sessions that were not carried out.
