Albanian cinema in black, loses life at a young age 'Tomka'
Enea Zhegu

Well-known Albanian actor Enea Zhegu has lost his life at the age of 57. He was one of the most famous actors of the '80s where he stood out with his role in the movie "Tomka and his friends".

The news about the loss of Enea Zhegu's life was announced by the actor Ledion Lako through a post on social networks. "Goodbye my friend. Actor that was envied by whole generations of actors! I grew up with your roles. You rested in peace Enea Zheku! (Tomka)" - Lako writes next to the photo with Zhegun

Ene Zhegu was born on July 9, 1964 and graduated from the Higher Institute of Arts for actor. He started his activity in the Albanian film at the age of 12, being hired by the well-known director Dhimiter Anagnosti, to act in the film "Poppies on the Walls" in 1976, where he successfully played the role of Lelo. A year later, in 1977, he stood out with the role of Zigur in the movie "The Man with the Cannon" and especially shone with that of Tomka in "Tomka and his friends", a role which made him known and identified to art lovers.

In 1986 he again played a leading role in the film "One more life", which would be his last role and separation from Albanian cinema.

The free and slightly rebellious spirit that had gradually developed within him began to emerge more and more in his high school years. So much so that the name Enea Zheku would be registered in the registers of almost all high schools in Tirana. Once he was expelled from one school, he was sent to another, until he would end up in night school. Many continued to identify Tomka as the prodigal boy.

There at the Academy, the miracle would happen that would not last long. Because in the first year, Enea Zheku would be expelled from school again for "bad behavior". The first sentence he received was only for one school year. While in the second year, another sentence he would receive, but for misconduct, he would be permanently expelled.

In 1989 he was locked up for 15 days in a psychiatrist and then he was locked up for the second time for about a month. In 1990 he emigrated to Greece and after a few years to Italy. In the first days of his return to Tirana, he would go to the Academy of Arts because he wanted to start where he left off years ago.

However, in 2013, director Besnik Bisha brought him to the staff of the series "Millennium", playing a key role together with the well-known actor Ndricim Xhepa.
