Mariglen Koroveshaj, the chief of the Roskovec police station, has recounted the dramatic moments of the incident that occurred over the weekend in the territory of the municipality he covers, including negotiations with the perpetrator Nertil Buzi, to hand over his ex-girlfriend, and an attempt to hand him over alive.

The 35-year-old refused any negotiations for several hours, killing himself. In the first moments, the State Police services and RENEAS negotiators tried in every way to convince him, but Nertili refused.

A few hours before committing the grave act of self-sacrifice, the young man requested that the chief of the Roskovec police station, Mariglen Koroveshaj, personally go to the car and, thanks to negotiations with him, agreed to hand over his ex-girlfriend Rozalinda Plaka.

"Upon receiving notification from the Police Operations Room about the incident, we notified our superiors. We immediately headed to the scene. When we got there, we learned that there were victims, the perpetrator had left, taking the daughter of the house with him. We were put in pursuit together with a police patrol. We learned the perpetrator's contact number and called him to negotiate. We were in constant communication with the perpetrator for several hours, until the perpetrator was convinced and asked that I personally approach the place where he was with the hostage. It was his choice from the negotiations that took place for about two hours, from the moment the perpetrator was contacted," he told Vizion Plus.

Chief Mariglen Koroveshaj recounted the dynamics of the situation, revealing for the first time that Nertil Buzi had asked him several times not to take weapons with him, otherwise he would kill himself.

In a truly dangerous and courageous situation, Koroveshaj agreed to surrender his weapons and approached alone the car where the 35-year-old was trapped with his ex-girlfriend who he had taken hostage.

"I approached the perpetrator according to his requests, to the place where he was and he still refused to let go of the girl, because he saw her as a guarantee that nothing would happen to him. At that moment, he asked me to approach him unarmed and alone. I complied with the perpetrator's request. The moment I approached him, he asked again to see if I was armed. I complied with his request. We had to do everything so that he would not get aggravated or irritated further, because the goal was to save his life and the hostage.

"The moment I approached, he told me: 'Don't make any more moves to get closer, or I'll kill myself.' I retreated and negotiated until it was possible for the perpetrator to release the hostage. It was a dangerous moment. In those moments, you think about how to save a human life, every second is crucial. Actions had to be taken as quickly as possible, as the perpetrator's grave condition could aggravate and worsen the situation," he said.

The chief of the Roskovec police station also told Vizion Plus about the serious condition of the girl Rozalinda Plaka, both emotionally because Nertil had killed both her parents and taken her hostage, and physically because she had sustained injuries.

"The girl was in a very serious psychological and physical condition. There were injuries to her body that were caused by the perpetrator when he forcibly took her from the apartment. There were many physical injuries that made it impossible for her to walk. At those moments when she got out of the vehicle, she should have left the danger area as quickly as possible. I returned to the perpetrator to continue negotiations so that he would release the weapon and not continue with the situation," said Chief Mariglen Koroveshaj.
