Four Bulgarians cheat the Albanian in Santorini and get €98,500

A 63-year-old Albanian woman who lives on the Greek island of Santorini was defrauded by four Bulgarian citizens who took 98,500 euros from her.

Local police have used footage from area cameras to identify and locate the fraudsters, including two women, who were caught in downtown Fira. When they were arrested, the police found the money that belonged to the 63-year-old woman.

The four Bulgarians were sent to the Prosecutor's Office of Naxos and charged with criminal organization and fraud in collaboration.

The scam started when the Albanian received a call from an unknown woman claiming to be a police officer, demanding a large sum of money to avoid legal consequences for her son.

Believing their version, the Albanian placed the money in a trash can as instructed, but the fraud was discovered and an investigation began that led to the arrests.
