On Friday, a German-born woman attacked passengers on a bus for Siegen and injured six people. The tragedy could have been much bigger, but there were three Albanian women on the bus...
"After what happened in Solingen and what is being discussed about knife and criminals of foreign origin, it must be said very clearly what happened on the bus that was circulating from Neunkirhcen to Siegen, because things are not black and white," Mayor Siegen Steffen Meus told many people who had gathered on Saturday (31.08) at the city's party. These words were accompanied by great applause, because what happened on this bus was an unprecedented tragedy, which could have been even worse.
Friday, 31. In August, near the town of Siegen, a German-born woman, most likely with mental problems, attacked people on the bus with a knife and injured six people. Two of them are still in danger. The tragedy, in the words of Mayor Meus, could have been even bigger tragedy. "But three women with migrant backgrounds stopped the attacker and avoided a tragedy of greater proportions," the mayor said.
Albanian women avoid a tragedy with more consequences
Deutsche Welle finds out that these women who have avoided a much bigger tragedy on the bus are of Albanian origin. They are A. P, A.B, and B, R-P (Deutsche Welles' editorial office in Albanian also has their full names and photographs, but because of their condition and the shock they have experienced, we will not publish them at the moment). We've talked to B. R-P, who explains what happened. They were with four children going to the town of Siegen.
"We were on the bus enjoying, having an extremely good time, laughing and entertaining with kids... Suddenly, a scaly sounded. I saw one woman was stabbing others. He also wanted to attack our children. A. P. grabbed the knife by his hand and together with A.B. they caught him, knocked this woman down. I caught the kids and I got them out quickly... I went back to the bus and took a bag of attackers from his hand... We took the knife out of his hand and laid him on the ground. One of them was holding it for hands, the other for feet. Then she cried out, "I'm going to give up." He sat in a chair on the bus and we kept him there waiting until the police arrived... The bus was full of blood on all sides,,, was terrible," he told DW B. R-P, who often stopped and insulted during the conversation.
Just after leaving the bus, A.P. noticed that he had a large knife wound in his hand. She and the injured were immediately taken to hospital. A.P. is out of the hospital and is now in good health. But their friend is still great.
Treatment by authorities
B. R-P. He also visited the city authorities. The mayor thanked them for the courage shown and for the fact that they have surely saved many others who could have fallen victim. They were treated by psychologists on Friday night, but fortunately, they also have their families by their side. But the fear and anxiety are still great. "Every time I close my eyes, I get those horrible images," says B. R-P. /Deutsche Welle
