The Supreme Court of Ontario in Canada has compensated an Albanian citizen with a staggering amount, who was humiliated and abused by his supervisor in a construction services company called Universal Structural Restorations Ltd.
"Rezart Osmani, a 48-year-old foreign worker from Albania, has worked at USRL for only 14 months. But at the time, he was the victim of some of the worst treatment we've ever seen, as detailed in the judge's decision in this case," Canadian media wrote.
His supervisor repeatedly used racial slurs at him. Osmani was threatened with expulsion if he questioned the duties assigned to him. When he was injured on the job, his supervisor intervened in the claim to the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), asking him not to file a claim in order to save the employer money.
Worst of all, the supervisor hit Rezart Osmani in the testicles with all his strength in front of all the other colleagues, causing so much damage that he later had to have the testicle removed. The 48-year-old sued the company USRL for dismissal and the supervisor for damages and violent attacks.
The Ontario Superior Court has ruled in favor of Albanian immigrant Rezart Osmani and fined the service company where he worked, Universal Structural Restorations Ltd, for supervisor violence and assault in the amount of $295,000.
