
The President of the Supreme Court, Sokol Sadushi, has initiated the procedure for the partial amendment of the unified practice of the United Colleges, regarding the Unifying Decision No. 7, dated 14.10.2011, on personal security measures.
According to the official announcement, the goal of this initiative is to ensure a more uniform judicial practice in accordance with constitutional, legal standards and those of the European Convention on Human Rights, especially regarding the restriction of personal freedom.
This step also marks the first exercise of the power of the President of the Supreme Court, under Article 438 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, to request the partial amendment of a unified practice of the United Colleges.
The public hearing for the case is scheduled to take place on April 9, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., at the Supreme Court.
This decision is expected to have a significant impact on criminal case law in Albania, providing clear guidance to courts in the interpretation and implementation of personal security measures.
