The Special Court gives SPAK two months to complete the investigations into doctor Edvin Prifti.
The judge in the case, Elsa Ulliri, asked prosecutor Sotir Kllapi to re-perform the financial expertise, while the next session was scheduled for April 7.
In February 2024, SPAK closed the investigations and requested the GJKKO to transfer the file for trial against Edvin Prifti, against whom four charges have been filed, "passive corruption" in 7 cases, "theft committed by abusing office", "concealment of income" and "money laundering".
It took the Special Prosecution Office 4 years of investigation to file charges against the former head of the Cardiac Surgery Service at the "Mother Teresa" University Hospital Center.
According to the prosecution, Prifti received money for 7 heart surgeries at the QSUT, while several sums of money were seized from him, which were found in cash in his office and apartment.
