Name / Albanian man stabbed to death by his co-host in Italy

An Albanian was killed by cutting machine yesterday afternoon in Bettola, Italy's Piacenza province.

Local media reported that the victim is 42-year-old Nikolin Nika, who was found injured on a sidewalk in front of a bar in Viale Delle Vittoria.

Niccolin Nika had received three wounds to the neck as emergency services arrived at the scene and did everything to save him, but any attempt was futile.

Hours after the incident, carabinieri detained a compatriot of the victim in the city and took him to the provincial headquarters in Viale Beverora. He was questioned at length by investigators, coordinated by deputy prosecutor Ornella Chicca. At the conclusion of his interrogation he was arrested for wilful manslaughter and sent to prison.

It is not clear what happened, but the fatal injury may have occurred at the end of a qerry or argument, which then degenerated irreparably.

Police have also searched the premises of the bar for a long time in search of the murder weapon: it could be a screwdriver or a knife. However, the three penetrating wounds to the neck were caused by an edged weapon which has apparently not yet been found.

Victim Nikolin Nika, who has lived in Bettola for years, has left behind his wife and two children.
