The police have placed in handcuffs the citizen Dritan Hoxha, who is accused of having, together with another Albanian, raped to death their compatriot with the initials AV, 14 years ago in Larisa , Greece.

For him, the Court of Tirana, with the decision of July 9, 2024, has decided to assign the security measure "Arrest in prison" in absentia for the criminal offense "Murder with premeditation", committed in cooperation.

One day after the Court's decision, Dritan Hoxha was located in the neighborhood "Hoxhaj", in Levan, Tepelena, and was placed in police custody.

The serious crime took place on May 17, 2010, where the victim was raped to death by Dritan Hoxha and another Albanian with the initials BB (arrested in the Greek state).

After the murder, the two suspects put the victim's body in his vehicle and took it to another, uninhabited place, where it was found by the Greek police authorities a day after the incident, on May 18, 2010.

Police notification:

Thanks to the police intelligence, the services of the Section for the Investigation of Serious Crimes against the Person, in the Tirana Local Directorate, under the professional guidance of the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction in Tirana, after a genuine investigative work of several months, have made it possible to document fully legal, the identification and capture of a citizen, the suspected author of an event that occurred in the Greek state on 17.05.2010, where the Albanian citizen AV was killed

From the totality of the in-depth investigative actions, it has emerged that on 17.05.2010, in the area of ​​Larissa, Greece, the citizen Dritan Hoxha, in cooperation with the Albanian citizen BB (arrested in the Greek state), exercised physical violence against the Albanian citizen AV, who died as a result of the injuries he received.

After carrying out these actions, the two suspects put the victim's body in his vehicle and moved it to another, uninhabited place, where it was found by the Greek police authorities, the next day, on 18.05.2010. .

In 2017, through the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Albania, the request of the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Appeal in Larisa, Greece, as well as the relevant documentation for the exercise of criminal prosecution in the Republic of Albania against citizen Dritan, was forwarded to the General Prosecutor's Office. Hoxha, wanted by the Greek authorities, in connection with this event.

On 01.11.2022, the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Gjirokastër declared incompetence in relation to criminal proceedings no. 622 of 2017, and the transfer of acts to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of the General Jurisdiction of Tirana.

In evaluating the collected evidence and facts, the Court of First Instance of Tirana General Jurisdiction, with decision no. 1734 act, dated 09.07.2024, has decided to assign the security measure "Arrest in prison" in absentia, to the person under investigation Dritan Hoxha, suspected of committing the criminal offense "Premeditated murder", committed in cooperation, provided for by articles 78-25 of the Criminal Code.

On 10.07.2024, the police services of the Sector for the Investigation of Serious Crimes, in cooperation with those of the Special Force of Special Operations and the Search in DVP Tirana, in the operational phase, in cooperation with the police services of the Tepelena Police Station and DVP Gjirokastër, have made it possible to locate and capture the citizen Dritan Hoxha, in the neighborhood "Hoxhaj", Levan, Tepelen.

The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office.
