Four Albanians were among 41 people arrested yesterday by the Italian police, part of the Ngragheta mafia.
Those arrested are accused of drug trafficking in Latin America, using Chinese entities, who used an informal money laundering system.
"Today's raid is a decisive operation that showed how the 'Ndrangheta reaches everywhere with connections all over the world," said Guardia di Finanza police captain Angelo Santori.
Coded conversations and association structure
Thanks to the interception of encrypted conversations through the Sky ECC platform, investigators reconstructed the structure of the criminal association and the entire drug supply chain.
It's about:
Nertil Hoxhaj , 38 years old;
Ervin Proshka, 32 years old;
Reshit Seferi , 32 years old;
Ankeloid Tuci, 41 years old
Investigations: Rivers of drugs and tens of millions of euros
During the investigations, supplies and transfers of 1,200 kilograms of cocaine, 450 kilograms of hash and 95 kilograms of marijuana were discovered. These large amounts would have brought tens of millions of euros to the association.
The role of the Chinese
"An active and absolutely invaluable role in the systematic work of laundering the illegal proceeds of the criminal association was covered by a real network of persons of Chinese nationality.
The latter, through articulated "compensation" mechanisms, were able to deliver the money to drug trafficking agents and the South American cartels themselves through "agents" residing abroad.
The investigations would have shown that, thanks to the fei ch' mechanism, "the association was able to launder more than 5 million euros."
In addition to the 41 people arrested, 44 objects and land, 17 vehicles/motorcycles, 354 bank accounts and 80 companies, commercial activities and shares were seized, with a total estimated value of over 50 million euros. Numerous personal and local checks have also been carried out, which are still ongoing.
