Edmond Papa, the 49-year-old who was killed by 9 bullets, is suspected to have been followed by the perpetrator for several days. There are even doubts that the killer had accurate information about the latter's movements.
It is also suspected that an acquaintance of the victim may have informed the author about the 49-year-old's trip to Tirana.
The investigative group has also seized the security cameras of the area where the murder took place from the previous days, because it is suspected that the author or authors may have previously observed the area near Edmond Papa's brother's apartment. The author who managed to execute him in the middle of the city remains unidentified.
How did the event happen?
49-year-old Edmond Papa was executed on December 16 at around 16:30 in the Selita area of Tirana, while he was in a nearby bar, on "Fadil Bodinaku" street. The 49-year-old was taken to the hospital, but he did not survive his injuries. When he approached the outside premises of the bar, Pope reacted and shot at him with the tools he had in front of him, a cigarette ashtray and others.
At this moment, the perpetrator shot 9 times with pistol bullets and immediately left the scene on foot. There are suspicions that he was helped by other people to leave, but there are still no suspects.
Edmond Papa had a precedent in Greece, convicted of drug trafficking and previously served in Great Britain. According to the sources, he had come to Albania for a while because he was going to visit his mother. For the event there are two lines of investigation, possible conflicts in Greece and conflicts about the property.
In Saranda, the city he was from, the victim was not known as a problematic person. As the owner of the 'Blue Sky' hotel, he also had a business center in the city center near the court. Also, he had continuously done charity work in the city, especially during the period of the COVID pandemic.
