The Greek media have published new details about the tragic death of the 6-year-old Albanian girl, who drowned on August 23 on the beach of Corinth in front of her father.
The 6-year-old was spotted by a fisherman under a moored boat and was transported by EKAB ambulance to the General Hospital of Corinth, where she was pronounced dead.
The fisherman who found little Amelia has given an interview to the Greek television MEGA, where he reveals chilling details from the event that shocked Albania and the neighboring country.
According to his confession, father and daughter were having lunch in a restaurant that was far from the place where little Amelia drowned.
He expressed his doubts about why the father took the girl to a beach away from where they had lunch.
According to the testimony of the fisherman, the Albanian's father wanted to go with the girl to a place where there are not many people, since the restaurant where they had lunch was full of people.
Among other things, the fisherman expressed his surprise at the fact that Amelia's father left the girl to fight with death at sea, while he himself went out with the boat, went home to charge the phone, since he had no battery, and then called the ambulance to ask for help for the girl who left him in the middle of the sea, reports abcnews.al.
"I cannot understand how a parent who knows that the child has eaten, can then take him to the sea for a bath. I cannot accept that while they were eating in a tavern in Isthmia, where there were so many people around, he decided to drive 6-7 kilometers and go to a remote beach that was deserted at that time. The other beaches that were closer to where they were eating had people who could have helped to save the child", said the fisherman, while as he pointed out, he found the "blue" child without being able to calculate how much time had passed from the moment he The 6-year-old had fallen into the water.
"I cannot know how long the child may have been in the water. It could have been for 20 minutes, or up to an hour. I can't say that myself. But when I brought the child to the surface, the child was blue and obviously dead, which was later determined by the doctors. As for me, what I cannot explain to myself is how a father left his child in the water, ran away and went to charge his cell phone to call and ask for help. So he could not dive into the water and get the child out of there?" said the fisherman.
As for the clothes that Amelia and her father were wearing, the fisherman says that the 6-year-old was wearing clothes and sandals, while he says that her life jacket had come off as it was not properly fitted. While the father's clothes when he returned home were dry.
"How is it possible? Did he change his clothes at home while his daughter was drowning?", said the fisherman, reports abcnews.al.

The fisherman also spoke about the shocking moments when he found the 6-year-old girl dead
"The waters were cloudy because of the weather, there were waves. The distance I was under the boat was 1-2 meters. I was swimming down and looking up at the girl's arms and legs. No, it can't be the truth I was thinking, it's my imagination. I get even closer and see the little girl. I immediately surfaced and called my wife who was on the beach, told her to call the police and the lifeguards. I grabbed the girl by the arms and took her to the beach. When I took him to the beach, the child started to spit water and foam from his mouth. It was bringing food, it seemed that it had eaten before," said the fisherman.
Amelia's father was released under restrictive conditions after being arrested by the Greek police. He is charged with the criminal offense of exposing a minor to danger, while there are many suspicions of criminal activity. According to Stavros Balaskas, a criminalistics expert, all the scenarios for the drowning of the 6-year-old are possible, while he does not rule out the possibility that the father deliberately drowned the 6-year-old daughter. However, he emphasizes that all tracks remain in the realm of suspicion and that so far there is no concrete fact or evidence.
How the event happened according to Amelia's father
It all started at noon on August 23 when the Albanian father, divorced from his wife, took Amelia to go out to eat at a restaurant by the sea.
Because the weather was unsettled and cold, they would not bathe in the sea and therefore did not take bathing suits with them. After eating, according to eyewitnesses, Amelia asked her father to go to the boat that was in the sea, reports abcnews.al.
Her father told her that they didn't have bathing suits with them, but Amelia insisted and so he agreed to go to the boat with her daughter. The distance of the boat from the sea was about 25-30 meters and the water depth 5-6 meters.
The sea was rough due to bad weather. The father got a life jacket, put it on his daughter and as they were dressed they headed for the boat. The father did not have his phone or other items with him. As the father told the Coast Guard, when they approached the boat, he tried to lift Amelia into the boat, but she slipped.
According to him, after slipping, the minor's vest came off and as a result the 6-year-old ended up under the boat.
What raises doubts is the fact that the father did nothing to save his daughter. He said that he did not dive to save her because he had asthma, and that he could not hold his breath in the water, reports abcnews.al.
The big question that remains is why Amelia's father did nothing in the 3-4 minutes that the little girl was struggling with death. For this reason, investigations have been started for Amelia's father, as he is accused of exposing the minor to danger. He was arrested by the Greek police, while yesterday he was released with restrictive conditions.
