Eduard Danaj , the Albanian who stabbed his wife Enkelejda Danaj to death in Athens in May 2024, has been sentenced to life imprisonment.

According to Greek media, he must also pay a fine of 5,000 euros for the charge of possessing and using a weapon without a permit.

“The defendant is a violent and apathetic man, he did not even remember the dates of birth of his children, which is unthinkable. He consumed alcohol after killing his wife and not before, as he claims. His act was premeditated. He wore a hat, took a taxi and then went to a hotel. When he was arrested, he told the police officer “I did good to her”. He was motivated by extreme jealousy and envy,” said the judge who announced the unanimous verdict of the Court.

The serious incident occurred on May 16. The 50-year-old stabbed Enkelejda more than 14 times with a knife. The 40-year-old died immediately at the scene.

The 22-year-old girl, who after the brutal murder of her mother took over the raising of her younger brother, was a witness at her father's trial.
