Police Director in Ecuador: Albanian gangs very closed, do not allow other members who are not from Albania

The director of the Anti-Narcotics Police in Ecuador, General Pablo Ramírez, has spoken about the Albanian gangs operating in this country and the cooperation they have with local groups.

In a story for the local media "Evuavisa" , Ramirez states that Albanians have a closed cycle, prefer to work with those they know and do not include members of groups with Ecuadorian, Colombian or Mexican nationality in their circle. 

He further adds that an Albanian criminal organization is composed of people from the same nationality and what connects them with the locals is only the creation of the material base, such as containers or many others, but the main functions are performed by the members of their group.

"Since 2017, we have started to show certain features not only of violent deaths or attempted violent deaths of persons of Albanian nationality. Through the investigations, we have established that this type of people who come from abroad with knowledge of this criminal activity in Europe are involved, who try to take the ports and use the opportunity to contaminate ships, containers, but also airports. We have ascertained that the people of this nationality are interfering with their forces; They are such a closed circle that they do not even accept people of Ecuadorian, Colombian or Mexican nationality. On the contrary, they are of the same nationality who perform all the functions of a criminal organization, they are so closed that even because of the language it does not allow us to progress as we should. However,he said in an interview for Evuavisa.

The same media writes that so far this year in Ecuador, 158 tons of drugs have been seized, an increase compared to what was seized in 2021 and 2020. Ecuador is the third country in the world with the largest amount of drugs seized in the world, after Colombia and the United States.

Albanians have also been killed in Ecuador. The latest is Ergys Dashi, who was shot with a barrage of bullets in a restaurant while eating dinner on January 22 of this year. Adriatik Tresa and Ilir Hidri were also killed earlier.
