The police of Elbasani announces that an operation has been completed, where an arsenal of weapons with silencers ready for action was found in the apartment of Luis Gaxhi. There were two automatic rifles with silencers, 3 pistols, 2 remote control mines.

Luis Gaxhi, 37 years old, convicted in Belgium, was arrested.

Rigers Spahiu, 37 years old, as an accomplice of Luis Gaji.

I am here today, together with the prosecutor of the Prosecution at the Elbasan Judicial District Court, to communicate with you and through you, with the public, about the actions recently carried out by the police structures of DVP Elbasan, in close cooperation with the Prosecution. with the aim of preventing possible events with serious criminal consequences and creating a safer environment for citizens.

As you are aware from the press releases, the structures of the Elbasan Local Police Directorate, in close cooperation with the Elbasan Prosecutor's Office and with the support of the General Directorate of the State Police, are involved in in-depth investigative and operational actions, in order to made possible the prevention of criminal events, the documentation of the activity of criminal groups, the identification of their members, the disclosure of events that happened before, the capture and bringing to justice the perpetrators.

In this context, supported and with informational intelligence provided in real time by the structures of the Crime Investigation of the Elbasan Local Police Directorate, coordinating actions and investigations with the Prosecution at the Elbasan Judicial District Court, in order to prevent an event of possible crimes with serious consequences for life, on 20.10.2022 the coded police operation "Prevention" was finalized.

Thanks to the timely receipt of information, coordination with the Prosecutor's Office and the Court, as well as the operational, investigative and procedural actions authorized by the Elbasan Court of First Instance, it became possible to find and seize, in an apartment, in the "Gurabardhi" neighborhood of the city of Elbasan, of an arsenal of firearms, some of them equipped with silencers, ready for action.

Specifically, in the apartment of citizen Luis Gaxhi, were found:

• 4 Kalashnikov firearms, two of which are modified and with silencers;
• 3 pistols with silencers;
• 2 remote-controlled mines, ready to be activated for detonation by remote control, via mobile devices;
• Detonator capsules;
• A quantity of explosive substance, suspected "C4";
• 4 mobile devices;
• Considerable amount of combat ammunition, armor-piercing.

As a result of preliminary investigations and suspicions based on evidence, the following citizens were arrested in the act:

-Luis Gaxhi, 37 years old, born and resident in Elbasan, convicted for criminal offenses in the field of narcotics, in Belgium;

This citizen was arrested for the criminal offenses of "Providing the conditions and means to commit murder", "Possessing and manufacturing weapons of war in large quantities" and "Unauthorized possession and production of explosive weapons and ammunition".

-Rigers Spahiu, 37 years old, born and resident in Elbasan, for the crimes "Actions that prevent the discovery of the truth" and "Supporting the author of the crime". This citizen is suspected as an accomplice in the criminal activity of citizen Luis Gaxhi.

At the moment of finding and seizing material evidence and other investigative and procedural actions, the engineering teams of the Anti-explosive Unit of the Special Department RENEA, have made it possible to deactivate remote-controlled mines, which posed a danger to the lives of residents and police officers State.

Referring to the proactive investigations carried out under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office at the Elbasan Judicial District Court, there are evidence-based indications that remote-controlled weapons and mines would be used for the execution of persons, on behalf of criminal groups identified by the Police.

For reasons of benefit to the progress of the investigations and the complete documentation of the criminal activity, allow us to be reserved in providing further information.

I emphasize that the Police of Elbasan, in cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office, during the coded operation "Dëshiran" that was finalized 1 week ago, seized another arsenal of firearms: a Kalashnikov, a pistol, hand grenades and combat ammunition, which, based on intelligence informative, it is suspected that they would be used for criminal events, on behalf of criminal groups.

I take the opportunity to assure the citizens of Elbasan district that the Police structures are fully engaged and dedicated to prevent, detect and attack crime and illegalities. In this context, I invite the citizens to be even more cooperative with the Police, since only together we can create an environment as safe as possible for citizens and not at all safe for criminal elements.
