Italian MPs at the migrant camp in Gjadra: Let's see if they work

A group of Italian MPs and officials have arrived in Albania to visit the illegal immigrant camp in Gjadra.

“I just arrived in Tirana for a surprise inspection visit to the Asylum Seekers Reception Centers in Albania, one year after their inauguration. Are they working? In my opinion, no.”

This was written on social networks by the secretary of Più Europa, Riccardo Magi, who, together with a parliamentary delegation, including Matteo Orfini and Rachele Scarpa of the PD and representatives of asylum associations, has just arrived at the migrant center in Gjadra.

In Shëngjin and Gjadra, there are two Italian centers where rejected asylum applications are rapidly processed, with the aim of deporting illegal immigrants to their country of origin. But the hundreds of millions of euros scheme has drawn strong criticism from political opponents, who say it is not functional.
