The Albanian and the Greek who raped and killed the Greek student are sentenced

The Albanian and the Greek who raped and killed the Greek student Eleni Topaloudi are sentenced to life imprisonment.

Greek media reports that the 26-year-old Greek man and the 24-year-old man of Albanian origin were sentenced to life imprisonment and 15 years by the Court of Appeal of Athens for the crimes of intentional homicide and gang rape of a female student.

The appellate court did not grant them any relief.

The two convicts argued, among other things, that during their trial at the Court of Appeal, the presumption of their innocence was violated, as they did not have a fair trial, but also because of the great "fame" that the case had received. They also argued that serious evidence was not considered by the court and finally that mitigating factors were wrongly recognized.
