The former speaker of the Assembly, Jakup Krasniqi, is still in custody in The Hague, after the indictment filed by the Special Court and the start of the trial against him and other former leaders of the KLA.

To pass the days in the prison cell, Krasniqi has decided to write poetic verses.

Recently he wrote some verses about his life and condition in that cell. These verses were published by his daughter, Gresë Krasniqi.

"My prison was a hole. I see the sky and the sun in pieces. Where I fall and wake up every day. To me it's just a pit. Especially for this age", are the verses written by Jakup Krasniqi.

The trial against the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), by the Specialized Chambers and the Prosecutor's Office, began on April 3, 2023. Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi have been declared innocent. They are being held in detention in The Hague as of 2020.
