Neës 24 has obtained two testimonies of neighbors from the apartment where 52-year-old Gjergj Laçi had 'imprisoned' his family.

According to the testimony of one of them, it is learned that she had not seen Laçi's family members for about 6 years, while according to her, recently when Laçi himself did not leave the apartment, the mosque or his family members provided them with food.

While another resident of the area confessed about the difficult economic situation of the family and the course of events that led the head of the family to that point.

According to her, it is known that Laçi went into depression when his previous apartment was demolished and that is when he climbed onto the terrace and threatened to jump. She adds that there was no electricity or water in the apartment as they could not afford to pay for it, and that Laçi's wife used to boil a kettle in the yard to wash clothes, thus showing the dire economic situation.

"We didn't see them for 5 or 6 years. We didn't know what was wrong with him. Gjergji went out, went to the mosque, to work like an usta. The children went to school, a regular person did not harass us. He kept his own wife locked up but he kept her well, he was worried about her. The mosque brought them food, everything they needed. And Gjergji's father and brothers helped him, while his wife's family members do not know" , said one of the neighbors.

"We have known the family for 30 years, we have had no problems, they were wise people, they came from Dibra. I don't know the woman, since her house was destroyed here she went into depression. Gjergji sometimes worked, sometimes he was unemployed. I don't know the woman because she didn't go out at all, recently I only saw Gjergji twice and he seemed very stressed. I have seen very little of it, the apartment was surrounded, there was no electricity and water because they could not pay, the woman washed clothes by boiling water in the cistern in the yard. When his house collapsed, he climbed onto the terrace and threatened to jump, it seemed that there were problems there," said another neighbor.

Meanwhile, images from the house where the 52-year-old with radical attitudes kept his family confined have also emerged.


Located near the '5 Maji' neighborhood in the capital, in this dilapidated apartment with very difficult conditions, Gjergji Laçi kept his wife and 2 sons locked up for 6 years.


He did not even allow the children to go to school. It is known that the police was notified by a relative of the 52-year-old's wife, who stated that she was systematically raped.

The 52-year-old man was in the police files and was previously convicted of weapons possession.
