Two Turkish citizens have been arrested by police in Rinas for extradition purposes, after being convicted in Turkey for sexual assault and the production/sale of narcotics.

"As a result of the verifications and interviews at entry/exit, carried out by specialists from the Rinas Border Police, as well as as a result of the coordination of work between specialists from Interpol Tirana and homologous structures in Turkey and Germany, the following internationally wanted citizens were provisionally arrested:

-Burak Kara, 38 years old, was stopped at the entrance to Albania after being sentenced in 2022, by the Court of Messini, Turkey, to 8 years and 4 months in prison for sexual intercourse with violence. Of the sentence, the 38-year-old has 4 years, 6 months and 21 days left to serve;

-Metehan Tutungu, 25 years old, was stopped at the exit from Albania after being sentenced in 2023, by the Court of Aschaffenburg, Germany, to 6 years and 6 months in prison, for the production and sale of narcotics.

Cooperation with counterparts continues to finalize procedures for the extradition of 2 citizens to the countries where they have been convicted.

Also, the Rinas Border Police services arrested and handcuffed citizen Orgen (Mariglen) Bushpreni, 40 years old, resident of Laç. This citizen was wanted after the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Tirana sentenced him to 5 years in prison for the criminal offense of "Production and sale of narcotics", the police announced.
