The Special Appeal overturns the GJKKO, returns for trial the former prosecutor of Vlora, Aurel Zarka

The Special Court of Appeal overturns the decision of the GJKKO for the former chief prosecutor of Vlora Aurel Zarka, returns the case for retrial to the first instance of the judiciary, without giving reasons.

The decision was given this Wednesday by the trio of judges Miliana Muça, Saida Dollani and Dhimitër Lara.

In the last session, his legal defense attorney Julian Mërtiri stated that his client was not a user of the Sky Ecc application and that Aurel Zarka worked in Vlora and could not influence a case that was in Tirana.

His involvement in this matter was artificial, according to Mërtir, as all the conversations were done by others and there was no reason for him to be involved in this relationship.

Zarka appealed the decision given by the Special Anti-Corruption Court that sentenced him to 4 years in prison for corruption and unlawful influence in the "Toyota Yaris" case, a sentence that was reduced to 2 years and 8 months due to the summary trial.

The decision to sentence in the first instance was given by the trio of judges Erjon Çela, Bib Ndreca and Rudina Palloj, while Zarka was investigated by prosecutor Klodian Braho.
