Former President Alfred Moisiu urges the European Union to put pressure on Serbia to recognize Kosovo. In an interview with Kosova Press, Moisiu stated that after the Russian aggression in Ukraine and the non-imposition of sanctions by Serbia, the European Union should not pet Serbia.

He demands the care and vigilance of Kosovo and Albania for the arming of Serbia by Russia and China.

"(Serbs) find it difficult (mutual recognition), I do not enter the reasons why, they know better. But he is the maximum we ask for, so it should be done step by step. Europe has this job in its hands more than anyone to squeeze Serbia and not to pamper them. "After being petted so far, they considered that it is better to follow Serbia here than from Russia" , he says.

According to him, the dialogue with Serbia should continue to achieve only a final epilogue and not to delay the process.

"Both Russians and Serbs have the same language, this is not regular and this worries us. We tell our neighbors, as we have lived together, we will continue to live, but as neighbors. I often use a word, friend and friend can be chosen, but neighbor gives God. The important thing is to find a way to get along and live in peace. Of course this is not as simple as it says, but it must be achieved. Once to solve problems, there are two ways, either with weapons, or we talk. "With weapons, the war is over here, now is the time to sit at the table, but with justice, honesty to solve problems and not to prolong time, Europe must also be careful here,"  he added.

The former president says that Serbia is an autocratic country, so care should be taken of any of their actions.

"We, Albania and Kosovo, are really peaceful, but we have to think even worse. Serbia is armed, but why is it armed? The question is not whether the gunman will attack, not whether he has it in mind. We must be careful and take action, both Kosovo and Albania, we must be more serious. Who would have thought that Russia would attack Ukraine, no one. "They are autocratic countries, Serbia is also an autocratic country, it is not in the weight of Russia, but it is",  emphasizes Moisiu.

However, he adds that Kosovo should join the regional initiative "Open Balkans".

“Amerika dhe Bashkimi Evropian e thanë troç se këtu nuk bëhet fjalë për zgjidhje politike, është çështja te zgjidhja e problemeve ekonomike. Pasi problemet politike do të vazhdojnë në kuadër të Procesit të Berlinit dhe BE-së… ‘Ballkani i Hapur’ ka rol ekonomik, Kosova duhet t’i bashkëngjitet, pasi Kosova bën tregti me Serbinë, pavarësisht se mund të ketë ra, por vazhdon. Duhet të zgjidhen të gjitha problemet, por pikësynimi është se as ju dhe as ne nuk heqim dorë nga pavarësia e Kosovës dhe njohja e reciproke. Pasi s’mundet të vazhdojë kjo në pafundësi në konflikt të ngrirë. Prandaj edhe kancelari gjerman e thekson me të madhe këtë punë”, përfundon Moisiu.
