The Durrës Port Authority received a call for assistance from the Marbella Explorer II Cruise at 23:50 about 20 miles from Durrës, for an ill English citizen on board with severe symptoms requiring emergency intervention.

The cruise ship was sailing from Corfu to Kotor and was immediately instructed by the Durres Port Authority to approach the quay to pick up the patient, and the authorities and the Durres Port Tugboat were notified to enable the recovery from the quay and the ambulance to accompany him to the Durres hospital.

At 02:30, the English citizen with the initials CP arrived at the hospital under the care of doctors in a life-threatening condition. The tugboat 'Joni' of the Port of Durres with its crew, Port Security, Border Police, as well as officers and the Captain of the Port of Durres were involved in the operation.
