Today's meeting of the Special Parliamentary Commission for Administrative-Territorial Reform in the city of Durrës was held with debates between politicians and citizens. The latter have raised their voices for the umpteenth time against the "TID" project that is expected to be developed in the historic center of the coastal city, emphasizing that their properties are being stolen.
Citizen Rita Kazazi addressed the politicians present in harsh tones, emphasizing to them that the "TID" project is devouring the properties that citizens have inherited from their ancestors over the years, and for this they provide the necessary documentation.
"I am Rita Kazazi of the TID group. Our house is being taken away unjustly. The TID project, without informing us, without notifying us, without anything at all, one fine day, a letter comes to us to leave the house.
"Public project, says the municipality. Have you heard of any place in the world where your house is demolished, with a mortgage, with land, with an old title deed, in the middle of Durrës?" the citizen said.
Further, the elderly woman drew the attention of politicians to listen to her until the end when she asked to confront some of the socialist employees of the Durrës municipality, who according to her own 3-4 houses each.
"Don't worry because I have this voice, don't worry, because I don't worry when you do this. Now, your house won't be taken away. Let me see these socialists in the municipality who have three or four houses. Will any of these people's houses collapse?" the citizen concluded her reaction.
We remind you that for months, the residents of Durrës have been protesting against the demolition of housing and expropriations that are far from the real market value. The project for the integrated transformation of Durrës is implemented by the Albanian-American Foundation for Development.
According to the drafters, the project aims to develop the archaeological park and increase tourism in the city, but this is not the case for the 74 families affected by it, as according to them the project is a threat to the existence and urban history of Durrës.
