In an interview for the show "Në Shënjestër" on News, Marjana, the sister of Xhuana Nikolli, who ended her life by consuming photoxyza as a result of violence from her ex-husband, has told Xhuana's story and called for justice. This is not just the story of a lost girl, but a reflection of the pain of a family and the need for a society that does not allow violence to take other lives.

She tells how she learned the sad news about her sister. Marjana describes Xhuana as a calm, sweet and loving girl, raised in a family without violence, full of harmony and respect. She married Eraldo Fizi, but the marriage only brought pressure, lack of support and psychological violence from his family, especially from her ex-mother-in-law.

" I was in Italy and my mother called me. She said: 'Xhuana is not well, she is in the hospital.' But why, mother, what is wrong with Xhuana? I don't know why what happened that night, then I didn't find her alive. Seven or eight years have passed since they met in high school, they had a long acquaintance. They got married, but when they got married, the many problems in Eraldo's family began. Eraldo's family did not support him, they did not respect him, they did not support him. Only psychological violence from his ex-mother-in-law. The ex-husband did not stay at home, he continued his nightlife, gambling.

He became very verbally abusive, he didn't stop following my sister. Until the last night we found out that my sister gave her life because of his violence. Barbaric violence, violence that I don't know how he inflicted on my sister. Three months after the marriage, she experienced this psychological violence, this toxic environment in her husband's family, she didn't find comfort and thought that maybe by separating she would start a new life in Tirana. My sister came to Tirana for work reasons, her profession, she felt the hope that her life would be more beautiful, but he didn't leave her alone. It started from excessive jealousy, from the idea that my sister was feeling good in Tirana, she started working as a notary, her profession. There were many reasons and we still don't know why he exercised violence against our sister. In November, he came to Tirana, stayed with my sister who lives in Tirana, then found a house with her friend.

Until March, the sister in Tirana called Xhuana, but she did not answer. Then the lady of the house went, saw her in that condition and called the ambulance. The doctor said that she had arrived with a very low pulse.

When we were four together, we laughed with each other in the yard of our house. Xhuana was always, besides my sister, I also had her as a daughter. She hung out with my son, played with her. I didn't stop her with my children. I don't know how to tell my children where their aunt is, because for us it's a trauma that we can't accept ourselves. Not even the children. Just the idea of ??who did it to her and why, how it happened. We have no words. We sleep with pictures of Xhuana and wake up with pictures of Xhuana. My parents can't stand the idea of ??why they took their daughter's life. Why did he rape our sister and he can stay very calm, he can live in another country outside of Albania, years can pass. Still, the parent has his mind there because he's not paying for what he did.

At that age my sister was, she never grew up with any kind of violence in our family. We always had harmony, respect. Our parents always sacrificed themselves, they were deprived just so that we could go to school, get a better life, a profession, and they never yelled at us. Even when I saw that with my own eyes, I said: "What did you do?"

The pain is so great that it increases every day. This wound will never heal. I just wanted some help from the institutions, I hope Eraldo Fizi is caught and receives that punishment from the law. I wish with all my heart that justice works for everyone, for women, for wives, for mothers, for all those girls who feel in difficulty. We hope that they do not go to the last act, but turn to justice and get a solution, have the most important support and do not accept any kind of violence. - she continues.

In the end, she addressed the alleged perpetrator, Eraldo Fizi, who is still on the run, telling him that one day he will be caught and that he will be held accountable for what he did to her sister.

" Why did you rape my sister? Why did you do it to her? She didn't deserve that suffering. She didn't deserve that barbaric violence. She deserved to live, to be happy. We hope that the perpetrator is caught as soon as possible and justice is served. We must act as a society. We must not let things go to waste. We are afraid that Xhuana's case will be forgotten. Eraldo, wherever you hide, one day you will come out and pay for that physical violence, that psychological violence that you inflicted on my sister. Violence must be stopped at all costs so that every girl can feel her life, be happy the way she wants and not be deprived of her husband, ex-husband or another who doesn't leave her alone," says Marjana.
